![]() ![]() Unfortunately we feel there might be an overlap from version one to version 2 of maybe a month or so. It is known that there are two models - the second commencing in September 1981 eg: 918D. When we only had a few frames as reference you could understand our difficulty in establishing their heritage. What Im not clear about is what they did in October, November or December, as there appears to be only a single digit for the month.įollowing the sequence, purely for illustrations sake, the last December 1981 frame, build sequence 256 welded by Mark Bradshaw bike would be stamped. The above uses a length of 99 to force it to select everything to the end of the frameNo from the 3rd character onwards. What I really need help to work out is what is the best way to be able to type in the number and character stamped on the frame and have it decoded. There is physical evidence on the frame of the model change so that can be marked in the database. Is 5th month (May), 1980, 1161st in sequence, welded by Darrell Kendall. To say the least I have stumped myself well and truly and am looking for some assistance. See the TI Raleigh Team Pros yahoo group for more details.I recently decided to challenge myself to write a database to help easily decipher and record manufacturing codes for a hobby I am involved with - Vintage BMX Bikes. The Special Build (SB) division used a serial number SBnnnn, assigned sequentially, starting in 1974. In 1982, when Worksop production was moved to Nottingham, the division continued to produce frames with the 'W' designation. Thus, 'WH4003203' would be the 3203rd frame built at Worksop in June 1974. Third Symbol is the year of manufacture, e.g. Worksop(Carlton, Sun, BSA, Triumph) - W.In 1973-74 it appears Carlton was about to start repeating the sequence and several instances of the USA Raleigh/Carlton Competition, RRA, and Professional models have been seen with Annnn serial numbers. Here, we give a listing of the serial numbers used for bikes built from the mid-1960s and onwards at the Carlton/Worksop facility, which built the high-end derailleur models. Most carbon-steel framed models were numbered sequentially, sometimes with a prefix letter. ![]()
